Investigations, trials and appeals
Our work begins with the allegations and the case file: the sequence of events, witness accounts, documents, and technical or medical reports. We use that analysis to prepare the defence, identify evidential issues and determine the applications to be made at each stage.
We attend investigations and hearings, prepare submissions and pleadings, and pursue appeals and cassation proceedings where available. This includes examining the reasoning of judgments and the procedural and substantive grounds for challenge.
Economic, financial and public-funds cases
The team’s experience includes public-funds and illicit-gains cases, money-laundering allegations, and offences arising from banking, currency and capital-market activity. These matters often require close examination of financial documents and the relationship between the alleged offence and the underlying transaction.
Amgad Abdelghafar’s defence practice includes representing ministers, prominent public figures and businesspeople in complex criminal and financial cases. Other members of the team bring experience from their former roles reviewing, investigating and adjudicating such matters.
Cybercrime and digital evidence
We address the criminal-law issues raised by alleged digital offences and the use of electronic evidence. The work includes reviewing the allegation, the available digital material and technical reports, and preparing the legal arguments concerning that evidence.
This work draws on experience in IT-crime investigations and digital evidence. Related questions concerning personal-data use and privacy obligations are addressed through our Data Protection & Technology practice.
